Why Boron Carbide ?
XLBC Nozzles with Boron Carbide Liners
Boron Carbide is one of the hardest material available. Harder than Alumina or Silicon Carbide. To put this in perspective it is only behind Diamonds and Cubic boron nitride in hardness.
All Everblast XLBC sandblasting Nozzles are constructed with a Boron carbide liner. Everblast’s XLBC nozzles wear longer over a broader range of abrasives than for example, Silicon Nitride, Silicon carbide and their derivatives.
Key Properties:
- Low Density
- High Hardness
- High abrasive wear resistance – Excellent for blast cleaning nozzles.
- Good Chemical resistance.
- Light Weight
Some examples of use:
- Nuclear Industry as a Neutron absorber.
- Ballistic armor…Body armor.
- Ceramic Tooling Dies.
- Cutting tools.
- Blast CleaningThe high hardness of boron carbide means this material has excellent abrasive wear resistance. Some applications include nozzles for slurry pumping, blast cleaning and water jet cutters.
Wear resistant ranking. 5 being the least and 1 being the best.
